ear-worms

Oh
My
Gawd

the worst ** thing has happened to me.

I woke up two (2) fucking days ago
with this song . . .

Sunday, April 7, 2013

Because it has worked,
so far,
once more . . .

Dear Basketball Gods:
I beseech you;
I implore you.
And, I offer up more prayers and supplications.

Hell, I’d sacrifice a virginal woodchuck
or, better yet, a whole hoard of syphilitic weasels
if that would do the trick
(And, please note, I’m not generally one who goes in for animal sacrifices)

But . . .

PLEASE

in the name of your hardwood holiness:

GO CARDS.

. . .

_______________
EDIT:

I am, now,
happy!

Today,
it’s all about her.

Today marks the 43rd anniversary
of the day the world welcomed
its most perfect inhabitant.

21 years latter, I had the marvelous good fortune to make her acquaintance.
We met and started dating in April 1991.

We’ve been together (pretty much) ever since.
It’s somewhat odd
(but more comforting)
to think that we’ve been together now,
longer than we were ever apart
& that our lives together
outdistance our childhoods, and “formative years.”

I don’t foresee that ever changing.
I love her as much, if not more, today
as I did all those many years ago when we were in the early, infatuation stage, of our relationship,
indeed, even more than when we exchanged our vows, coming up on 17 years ago.

She proves the whole “getting better with age” cliché to be a truism.
And one or two more:

So happy birthday to my beloved spouse.
I look forward to wishing her
many,
many
more.

a new direction

This is all news/new to me:

Apparently, there is this band
One Direction:
Apparently, they are a VERY big deal in Spawn’s world*

Apparently, the WORLD was in severe danger of ending
totally
fucking
ENDING
If we didn’t consent to her buying concert tickets
the VERY LAST ONES!!!!
(according to her)
for the Chicago show this Summer
RIGHT NOW**

Snot. Tears. Drama.
The whole nine yards.

We consented
relented
caved.

 What else could we do?

* I suppose I should consider us fortunate. This is her first (and hopefully last) foray into the dreaded “boy band” quagmire. I know others, some of her friends and peer’s parents, who are jaded veterans of this all-consuming plague.

I thought we had dodged this bullet.

I thought we'd raised her better.
~Sighs~

** Note, this was last week
(& she's still prancing around like that ^^)

Premature

It’s not even April,
and I’m ALREADY coming down with Derby Fever.
Damn this unseasonably warm March.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

If one could have a nation as a soul mate, and mine wasn't Canada - - Ireland would be a close second. Not politically, certainly, but topographically perhaps . . .

Aye, and yes, there is something about the countryside that just speaks to my soul.

Lá Fhéile Pádraig Sona Daoibh or,
Beannacht Lá Fhéile Pádraig.
