Because it has worked,
so far,
once more . . .

Dear Basketball Gods:
I beseech you;
I implore you.
And, I offer up more prayers and supplications.

Hell, I’d sacrifice a virginal woodchuck
or, better yet, a whole hoard of syphilitic weasels
if that would do the trick
(And, please note, I’m not generally one who goes in for animal sacrifices)

But . . .

PLEASE

in the name of your hardwood holiness:

GO CARDS.

. . .

_______________
EDIT:

I am, now,
happy!

Today,
it’s all about her.

Today marks the 43rd anniversary
of the day the world welcomed
its most perfect inhabitant.

21 years latter, I had the marvelous good fortune to make her acquaintance.
We met and started dating in April 1991.

We’ve been together (pretty much) ever since.
It’s somewhat odd
(but more comforting)
to think that we’ve been together now,
longer than we were ever apart
& that our lives together
outdistance our childhoods, and “formative years.”

I don’t foresee that ever changing.
I love her as much, if not more, today
as I did all those many years ago when we were in the early, infatuation stage, of our relationship,
indeed, even more than when we exchanged our vows, coming up on 17 years ago.

She proves the whole “getting better with age” cliché to be a truism.
And one or two more:

So happy birthday to my beloved spouse.
I look forward to wishing her
many,
many
more.
